South Bend Mayor Speaks at Rotary Club

South Bend Mayor, Pete Buttigieg, was invited to be the guest speaker at the Michigan City Rotary Club earlier this week. Mayor Pete is the City of South Bend’s thirty-second mayor. He was sworn into office at age 29 in 2012 to become the youngest mayor in the United States in a city with over 100,000 residents. During his first three years mayor, South Bend has seen positive economic growth and has tackled the abandoned housing issues. In his opening comments Mayor Pete focused on regionalism. He discussed the importance of coming together as a region to help each other grow and develop. It’s okay to have are sibling rivalry with our neighboring cities, but in the end we will all rise and fall together. Mayor Pete sees a chance to create a bright future and is very diligent an optimistic in his work.
