First Friday is here again

Ryan Solano, Feature

Another month, another First Friday. Another chance to indulge in great music and exquisite art! For those who have never been, First Friday is a monthly event put on by the Uptown Arts District and it takes place in our very own Art District. You can always find something to do, but First Friday offers special events and exclusive performances from upcoming artists. And the best part is that it’s all free!

September’s First Friday will take place on September fourth and will be open from 5 to 8 pm. Some events that will be taking place, include a presentation from natural world artist Melissa Washburn, who can be found at The Barker Mansion at 631 Washington Street. Jewelry crafter, Betsey Nacrelli, will be bringing her jewelry line inspired by her love of travel. She will be hanging out at Urban Soles at 624 Franklin Street.

Along with another handful of talented artists, First Friday also showcases many amazing musicians! At the Lubeznik Center for the Arts (101 W 2nd Street), Peter Aglinskas will be performing sultry guitar solos. A stop at Maxine’s (521 Franklin Street) will result in a serenade from jazz artist Peter Castranova accompanied by a pianist and vocalist. Into performing yourself? Mainstreet Theatre (807 Franklin) is having Open Stage for anyone willing to jump on stage! Don’t miss out on this excellent experience!
