The Michigan City volleyball team lost to Crown Point 3-2 Tuesday night in the Wolves Den.

City won the first set after taking a 10-4 lead early in the set. City continued their lead the entire set, beating the Bulldogs 25-16.

Crown Point had the first serve of the second set, but City quickly took the lead. After two Bulldog time outs, City continued their lead, 18-12. Kills made by Kylie Filipiak and Karmen Halfacre closed out the set, 25-19, with City leading the game 2-0.

Points in the third set were much closer until the end of the set. City started strong with Allison Rhue at the serving line, but Crown Point took the lead to 5-8. The teams tied up at 10-10, but Crown Point held on to another lead after two City time outs. Crown Point won the set, 17-25.

Crown Point won the fourth set, 16-25, holding on to the lead the entire set. The overall score was 2-2, taking the game into a tie-breaking fifth set.

With a tie breaker set only to 15 points, neither team had room for error to capture the win. The Wolves and Bulldogs fought back and forth in the fifth, with point margins less than three. Crown Point snagged a confident lead, beating the Wolves 9-15 to capture the overall win.

Points for City were made by Hannah Noveroske, Hanna Westphal, and Filipiak. Top servers included Karmen and Kasey Halfacre and Emily Kinney.

The Wolves (11-4, 3-3 DAC) play in the Michigan City tournament this Saturday. Play begins at nine o’clock in the Wolves Den.
