At “homecoming round two” on Friday, October 2nd, Steering Committee representative and den leader, Erica Zolvinski, was crowned homecoming queen.

The homecoming candidates and their escorts strode onto the field one couple at a time as the announcer read off their parents’ names, the clubs that they are involved in, and some advice that the candidates had for underclassmen over the loudspeaker. This was all after the homecoming candidates had traveled to the game by parade in their rented convertibles.

Once all of the girls had been introduced, the moment came for Dr. Barbara Eason-Watkins to crown the queen. Although the loudspeaker cut out when the announcer said Erica’s first name, the den went wild when they heard their den leader’s last name announced. Erica then hugged her escort, Hunter Williams, and accepted her crown.

Erica feels honored to be crowned homecoming queen.

“I can’t thank my family and friends enough for all of their support. Thank you to everyone, especially my escort. I couldn’t have done it without Hunter.”

Not only was she honored to win the crown, she was also shocked.

“I didn’t think I was going to win at all. All the girls are so sweet and friendly; I didn’t know who to expect to win.”

In fact, Erica’s favorite part of the whole experience was that everyone on the homecoming court were friends.

“I think no matter who would have won, we would have all been happy for each other. The experience was the best part.”
