The MCHS boys and girls soccer teams lost to rival Laporte Wednesday night at St. Joseph High School in the first round of sectionals.

In the boys’ game, Laporte had a lead of 1-0 at the beginning of the game. That lead quickly jumped to 3-0 before Senior Jimmy Ohms scored for the Wolves, but the Wolves still trailed the Slicers, 3-1.

With minutes left in the game, Laporte made two more goals. City was unable to score and lost to the Slicers, 5-1.

In the girls’ game, there was a scoreless tie throughout the entire first half. Shortly in the second half, Laporte scored, and City was behind 1-0. Laporte scored again, taking their lead to 2-0. City failed to score throughout the game, falling to Laporte.

Losses for both teams marks the end of their sectional tournaments and the end of their seasons.
