Halloween Asteroid

Amira Novitzke, reporter

An asteroid that NASA just discovered on October 10th is set to fly by the Earth on Halloween night. This will be the closest encounter earth has had with an asteroid since 2006.

On Halloween, the asteroid will come within 310,000 miles, and will brush past Earth. NASA says it will present no threats to humans.

The asteroid, called 2015 TB145, is said to be incredibly fast and they predict it will fly by Earth going 78,000 miles per hour.

The asteroid gives NASA a chance to study the physical properties of this object. The next close encounter to Earth is predicted to happen in August 2027! On Halloween night, do not forget to pay close attention to the sky and keep a look out for the asteroid because it will not come this close again for another dozen years!
