San Bernardino Shooting

On Wednesday December 2nd two people went into the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino California and opened fire. Original reports said that there were three suspects that went into the center. However  police are now saying that they believe it to have only been two suspects. The shooting left 14 people dead, 17 people wounded, and the two suspects dead. The two suspects walked into the center heavily armed and dressed in body armor as if they were going to war.

The two people behind the shooting have been identified as Syed Rizwan Farook who is 28 years old and his wife Tashfeen Malik 27 years old.  The couple walked into the center around 11:00 a.m. there was an employee banquet taking place in the conference area for county health officials and started shooting. Farook had attended the banquet earlier in the morning and left and returned later with Tashfeen.

According to the Washington Post, Tashfeen pledged her allegiance to the Islamic State leader on facebook . Both of the shooters were killed in a shoot out with police four hours after the original shooting.This is the first attack on American soil done by a person associated with ISIS.

Farook and Tashfeen first met reportedly on a dating site and later met in person when Farook visited Saudi Arabia where she moved from her original country Pakistan. They had a 6-month old daughter who was left with family members. The motives for the shooting is unclear at the moment and a police investigation is in the process.
