The Barker Mansion is revving up for the holidays

Ryan Solano, Feature Reporter

As the days grow colder, The Barker Mansion is just heating up. With the holidays just around the corner, the historical building is celebrating by bringing people of the community together once again.

All of the fun will begin Sunday, December 6th. Guests will be invited to tour the mansion’s first floor all while listening to featured musicians like the B Natural Trio and Felicia Thomas.

From then until the 31st, self-guided tours will be available Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday from 1 to 4 pm. Also scattered throughout the month will be special events that the whole family can enjoy. This includes things like Musical Delights, a special occasion where four different talented musicians will be performing. They are the talented Shelia Pollock, Karol Valek, Howard Brenneman, and Lee Meyer. Another event happening will be Uptown Cakery Cookie Decorating the 13th and then a similar Cupcake Decorating the 19th. One week later on the 26th, there will be a special Glowing Lights Night where families are invited to traverse the mansion with glow sticks. To wrap up the busy season, they will be holding a Closing Event January 2nd, that will include kids’ crafts, a performance by Karol Valek, and cocoa under the stars.

For years, the Barker Mansion has greeted the community for the holidays with only the utmost hospitality. Not only do they provide a family friendly good time, but an educational experience like no other. It is their vibrance and dedication that makes Michigan City a more memorable place.
