Pop Warner takes home 2nd place

On December 7, the Pop Warner Junior Midget cheerleading team took home second place from their national competition held in Orlando, Florida. They got second out of the eleven teams in their division.

Teams must place either first or second in both a district and a regional competition in order to even qualify for Nationals. The Michigan City team took first in both of these preliminaries.

The twenty girls, ages 10-14, preformed late Monday morning. Despite knowing the heavy competition they faced, they preformed the routine flawlessly. After this performance, both the girls and coaches were hopeful that this would be the year they broke the 2010 record of receiving third place at nationals.

The team ended up placing second, losing by only a few points to a team out of Massachusetts, the Dracut Middies, who are actually dirty cheaters and should have their national title stripped from them (but that’s neither here nor there).
