Carol Burnett to perform in Chicago

On May 19th, 2016 and May 20th 2016, award-winning actress and best-selling author, Carol Burnett, will perform at the Chicago Theatre in An Evening of Laughter and Reflection.

This show is one of the many Q and A shows that Burnett has performed around the country over the past few years. The show takes on the format of what used to be the beginning of her television show. Before each variety show episode, Burnett would walk onto the stage and ask her audience if they had any questions for her.

She says she likes performing Q and A shows because it there is no telling what kinds of questions the audience will ask.  “I love the spontaneity of these evenings,” said Burnett. “I never know what anyone is going to ask, or say, or do, so it keeps me on my toes!”

Burnett definitely is not a stranger to the stage. She got her first starring role in Once Upon a Mattress as Winnifred, and that led her to star in several movies and television shows. A theatrical adaptation of Burnett’s memoir, One More Time: A Memoir, is currently on Broadway. Although she is not in it, she had a heavy hand in writing the material with her late daughter, Carrie Hamilton.

Burnett has been given Emmys, Golden Globes, People’s Choice Awards, the Horatio Alger Award, an Ace Award, and the Peabody. A Kennedy Center Honoree. She has also been given the Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for Humor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame, and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. On January 30th, 2016, she will be honored with the SAG Life Achievement Award.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Dec. 4 and are available at thechicagotheatre.com and 800-745-3000.
