Peyton Manning Retiring?

Sean Callaghan, Sports Reporter

There is no denying by any Peyton Manning fan that he is getting old. Peyton’s physical decline has been very evident and well-documented this year. Going into the Super bowl on February 7th, Peyton Manning’s stats were not nearly in the same place as those of Cam Newton. Peyton has had an amazing career, setting many records as both a colt in Indianapolis and a Bronco in Denver. The past years have been tough, going through injury struggles and more. The 2015-2016 season has been his worst year, prompting many people to encourage his possible retirement. After the final moments of the AFC championship, a match up between Tom Brady and Manning, the broncos emerged the winners. As Peyton walked onto the field to shake hands and such, he stopped when encountering Bill Belichick and told him that this might be his ‘last rodeo’, inferring that he could retire at the end of the season. After an underdog super bowl win, Peyton very well could’ve celebrated his last game in the NFL. Manning was noncommittal regarding his future plans in a post-game interview with CBS’ Tracy Wolfson. “I’ll take some time to reflect. I got a couple priorities first,” Manning said. “I’m going to go kiss my wife and kids. I want to hug my family. I’m going to drink a lot of Budweiser tonight, Tracy, I promise you that. I’m going to take care of those things first. Definitely got to say a little prayer to thank the man upstairs for this great opportunity. I’m just very grateful.” For the moment, Peyton has put his decision oh hold.
