National Pancake Day

Since beginning its National Pancake Day celebration in 2006, IHOP restaurants have raised nearly 20 million to support charities in the communities in which they operate. On March 8, 2016, from 7 AM to 7 PM, guests from around the country will celebrate the eleventh annual National Pancake Day at participating IHOP restaurants and enjoy a free short stack of Buttermilk pancakes. Last year, the all-day-breakfast chain served 6.6 million free pancakes, a stack, IHOP said, that would reach nearly 19 miles high. The International House of Pancakes uses National Pancake Day to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Shriners Hospital for Children and other nonprofits. In 2015, IHOP raised $3.5 million for children’s charities by asking diners for donations. This year, IHOP hopes to collect another $3.5 million for charity. There are more than 1,600 IHOP locations in the world, and locations in the U.S., Mexico, the Phillippines and Canada participate in the fundraiser. This annual event has evolved into a very well known cause that has drawn a considerable amount of attraction. When asked about what she thought about National Pancake Day, the IHOP waitress responded,” it is very busy and a lot of people come to eat pancakes today. Many don’t know about the fundraiser for charity when they get here, but we get a lot of people willing to donate when they find out.” Mark the date on your calender’s for 2017 because this is an incredible cause that anyone can get behind.
