The 2017-2018 Wolves football season has just begun. After a record setting season for the Wolves last year, this year will be one for the books. This is Coach Mason’s second year coaching at Michigan City, and all of the veteran players know how he runs his team. This years team captains are Chase Triplet, Braden Fiske, Oscar Potts, Michael McCullough, Keyshawn McGill, and Daelon Wren. The Wolves are 1-1 right now after a tough loss against football powerhouse Homewood Flossmoor this past Friday. The Wolves played a great game and fought hard, but could not pull off the win. Week one against Griffith, though, was a great success and showcased the talent that the Wolves are bringing to the field this year. Conference games start this Friday, September 1. The Wolves will be facing the Chesterton Trojans (2-0) at home. Last year, the Wolves shut out the Trojans to open conference play last year. Junior offensive lineman, Jared Brinkman said, “We worked hard all summer with one goal in mind and that is to win.” Senior Zach Gault said, “We are basically a new team after graduating so many seniors, but there is lots of young talent that has stepped up.” New, young talent is great for a football team in the long run because the Wolves can start to build a future team and teach the young players how things are done. This is just the beginning of the Wolves’ season and from what has been seen so far, it should be another great year.
