Number one ranked Penn State has extended their win streak to 15 on November 15 with a win over Maryland 3-0. With this win, the Nittany Lions’ record improves to 25-1 on the season.

Per usual, Penn State is led by their seniors who are doing extremely well in their final season. Senior outside hitter, Simone Lee had an exceptional night on both the defensive and offensive side. She collected 10 kills, 13 digs, and two blocks to go along with a pair of two serve aces.

Senior setter Abby Detering also had went off the sheet with her stats that night, seeing as she hit .400 and added 11 assists and three digs.

Along with these terrific performances from Lee and Detering, Penn State also receved key contributions from Ali Frantti and Tori GorrellFrantti finished with a great day with five kills, six digs, and five blocks. Gorrell proved to be a difference in the middle, contributing with five kills and three blocks, hitting with a percentage of .714 on the night.

In the first set, Penn State showcased their dominance, taking a huge lead 12-7 and they did not let up, taking the set on a 13-7 run.

However, the second set seemed very different from the first. Both teams exerted a sluggish demeanor throughout the set, seeing as neither sides hit all too well. Maryland’s several, costly errors were the difference in Penn State’s victory that set: 25-21.

In the third set, the same issues occurred for Maryland. With 11 errors from the opposing team, costed them the final set against Penn State.  With all of the errors in the match-up against Penn State, Maryland (30 errors) could not keep up with the rigorous defense and offense that Penn State had displayed all three sets.
