Goodbye gifts

Megan Mullins, Business Manager

Now that the official holiday season is coming to a close many may be left with gifts that they just don’t have a use for.  From the smelly scented candle to that oversized scratchy sweater, every household has some presents that are very desired. But there are many ways in which you can put some use to these items instead of tossing them into the trash. See if you can pick up some credit. Although you may not have the gift you love does not mean that you won’t be able to find one in the shelves of the store it was purchased from. So give back that gift and put some credit on your account.  Although a gift may not be the best for you, it could bring happiness into the life of someone else. Donate the gift instead of hiding it away in the back of a dresser drawer to die.  If you find that you are not in a very giving mood following the holidays and donating is not the path you decide to follow, putting up that new unopened gift for sale will not only get rid of the clutter but also put some money in your freshly cleaned out pocket. Repurposing is also a very useful tool. Turn an unwanted item into one you can not wait to show off, and have a great time while doing it. Ani Falatovics a Junior at MCHS said “ I often get gifts that I know I will never use. My usual route with these gifts are often just to chuck them in the trash but I think I need to put them to use and make it worth the person buying it for me.
