The Uncertain Future

With an uncertain future the world has turned to it’s leaders who are on the foregrounds of huge conversations. The United States is teetering on a very big decision of placing sanctions on Iran with the hopes of deterring them from beginning the work on their nuclear program again. North Korea is fresh off of announcing to the world that they would end their nuclear program and begin peace talks with South Korea, which ends a conflict that has been ongoing for the better half of a century.

The United States and Iran have had issues for quite a while and it has now reached a boiling point. Donald Trump swore that he would exit the deal because it was a “poor decision”.

He actually said “No one should doubt my word. I said I would not certify the nuclear deal – and I did not. I will also follow through on this pledge. I hereby call on key European countries to join with the United States in fixing significant flaws in the deal, countering Iranian aggression, and supporting the Iranian people. If other nations fail to act during this time, I will terminate our deal with Iran. Those who, for whatever reason, choose not to work with us will be siding with the Iranian regime’s nuclear ambitions, and against the people of Iran and the peaceful nations of the world.”

As tensions rise with Iran, the United States and North Korea are turning the page in history. The hostility between the two may finally be over. Leader of North Korea Kim Jong-un seems to have had a change of heart. Kim Jong-un actually met with South Korean leader Moon Jae-in at the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) which has served as the border between the two countries for almost 70 years. Since its creation past North or South Korean leaders have not stepped foot in the other country. This was a huge step in the right direction. They are no longer at each other’s throat and in a constant stalemate. The world has had a front row seat to this conflict, especially with the heightened tensions since Kim Jong-un took over his father’s regime in North Korea. It has been a very long and windy road but there seems to be a beacon of light ahead. This is not only a victory for both countries but also for the world.

There is an upcoming nuclear conference that will clearly have a lot to talk about. The projected location of the summit is Singapore. Between North Korea denuclearizing and possible sanctions on Iran, world leaders will have some major decisions on their hands. Possible wars may or may not be started or solved because of what is going to happen at the summit.
