The Cityzen

Sarah Smith: Editor in Chief
Sarah Smith is a senior at Michigan City High School. She enjoys participating in many after school activities. These include soccer, swimming, student council, steering committee, and many more. Among these her favorite is newspaper. Sarah’s favorite class has always been English class, and through her English classes Sarah has discovered a love for writing. She also found her passion for journalism through her newspaper class last year. Sarah decided to join the school newspaper last year after her sister convinced her to. Through the newspaper Sarah gained a new perspective on all different writing techniques.

Sarah has been taking writing classes ever since the first grade. However when Sarah was younger she hated to write. The older and older she got the more she learned to love it. Now going into her junior year she understands the importance of writing and journalism is a big part of her life. Those years have prepared her to be on the Michigan City High School Cityzen School Newspaper. Those writing classes helped her to put her creativity into her stories.

The articles that she likes to write now are about things that are important to other people. She loves to inform people about everything that is going on and creating more in-depth stories for her audiences. Sarah hopes to continue writing on staff for the rest of her high school career.
