Lindsey Jackson, Sports Writer

The art of journalism always inspired Lindsey Jackson. She always knew how to articulate her thoughts in a way you would understand, no matter the audience. She often kept a diary to voice her thoughts and opinions. Her love of journalism began when she was about ten years old. Broadcast Journalism always captured her attention. She grew up watching the different talk shows, such as, The Oprah Winfrey Show and The Tyra Banks Show.
Lindsey loved listening to the radio as a child. She would often sit back and listen and think, “Wow that’s going to be me someday.” Numerous radio personalities inspired her. Rocsi Diaz, of Entertainment Tonight, was her personal favorite. The energy she had when hosting her segment always kept Lindsey intrigued. Every guest that appeared always seemed to be genuinely excited to be in her presence. Oprah also had a great influence on her dreams. All of Oprah’s guests just willing open up to her as if they’ve known her their whole life. No matter whom the guests are they speak to her with so much willingness and she’s always genuine. That’s a quality Lindsey hopes to possess one day. Soledad O’Brien is also one of Lindsey’s inspirations. Her ambition and drive was what kept Lindsey watching. She was always going after the major stories. She also pays close attention to the stories that hit close to home.
Lindsey is currently a senior at MCHS. She is a member of the Alpha Yearbook staff, as well a member of Cityzen Newspaper staff. She hopes to attend Howard University, located in Washington D.C., where she hopes to major in Mass Communications with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism. Her biggest aspiration is to host her own radio segment or television show in New York City or Los Angeles.
